How is the concrete coloured?
Coloured concrete is achieved by mixing a powdered or liquid pigment into the concrete at the time of batching. This has the advantage of providing a consistent colour finish.
Can I use coloured concrete with my radiant floor heating?
Yes.
Can you guarantee the color will match the color card?
Unfortunately, not. The final color is a function of the cement color, sand color, the amount of water used as well as finishing methods. We only guarantee that our color additives will match our standard, that is, they will be the same from year-to-year.
Will the colour in the concrete fade?
The colour system that we use is manufactured from top quality materials and exceeds all relevant standards in relation to light fastness and tint strength. Having said that, you will have a hard job finding a finish that will not be affected by our strong UV rays. The color can't fade, but concrete, on the other hand does change with time and weather exposure. Even uncolored concrete which turns yellow, erodes and darkens as it accumulates dirt, dust and grime from the environment. Left unprotected the surface of concrete "dusts" and erodes slowly until fine aggregate and sand particles are exposed. This same process occurs in colored concrete. The solution is to buy concrete from a supplier who offers mixes designed for durability and an installer with experience in finishing "architectural" concrete. Then keep colored concrete fresh looking by protecting it with periodic applications of a good clear sealer.
Can colour be applied to an existing concrete floor?
Yes.
How long before I can walk/drive/etc. on my coloured concrete?
Following sealing of the concrete you can walk 3 days after and drive 7 days after.
